Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival in Kigali or after breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your driver-guide and begin the journey to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda. The drive takes approximately two and a half hours through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, offering views of rolling hills, farms, and traditional villages.
Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you may choose to relax at the lodge or take an optional cultural visit to a nearby community to learn about local traditions and daily life.
Spend the evening enjoying the cool mountain atmosphere as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and a briefing by park rangers. You will receive information about gorilla trekking rules and be assigned to a specific gorilla family.
Following the briefing, begin your trek through the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. The duration of the trek varies depending on the location of the gorilla family and may take between one and several hours.
Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they interact, feed, groom, and care for their young. This rare wildlife encounter provides excellent opportunities for photography and a deeper appreciation of gorilla conservation efforts.
After the trek, return to the park headquarters and receive your gorilla trekking certificate. Enjoy lunch before beginning the drive back to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport.
