This 4 Days Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife Safari combines two of Uganda’s most sought-after experiences: mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and wildlife viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The safari offers an excellent opportunity to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas while also enjoying classic African game drives and a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Kampala or Entebbe and begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

Enjoy scenic views of rolling hills, local villages, terraced farmlands, and the beautiful landscapes of the Kigezi Highlands. A stop will be made at the Equator for photographs and refreshments before continuing to Bwindi.

Arrive at your lodge in the evening and relax as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

Enter the forest with experienced guides and begin your search for a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek may take between one and six hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.

Once the gorillas are located, spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watch as they feed, groom, play, and interact within the family group.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before departing for Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha Sector, famous for its tree climbing lions.

Enjoy a game drive in Ishasha as you search for these unique lions resting in fig trees before continuing to your lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Wake up early for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. This area is known for its large populations of Uganda kobs, which attract predators such as lions and leopards.

You may also encounter elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas, and numerous bird species.

Return to the lodge for lunch before proceeding for an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The channel hosts one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa and attracts large numbers of animals to its shores.

Expect excellent sightings of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of water birds during the cruise.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive as you exit the park.

Begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, passing through beautiful countryside and local communities. Stop at the Equator for lunch, souvenir shopping, and photographs before continuing to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.

Arrive in the evening, marking the end of your safari.
