This 5 Days Gorillas and Chimpanzee Tracking Safari takes you to two of Uganda’s most famous primate destinations. You will visit Kibale Forest National Park, known as the primate capital of East Africa, for chimpanzee tracking before heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and begin the journey to Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda.
The drive takes you through traditional villages, tea plantations, fertile farmlands, and beautiful countryside scenery. As you approach Fort Portal, enjoy spectacular views of the Rwenzori Mountains and the crater lake region.
Upon arrival, check into your lodge and relax before dinner.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Walk
After an early breakfast, proceed to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee tracking adventure.
Kibale Forest is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and several other primate species. Accompanied by experienced guides, you will walk through the forest searching for chimpanzees as they feed, communicate, and move through the trees.
Once located, you will spend one hour observing the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.
After lunch, visit the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. The wetland is rich in birdlife and primates, including red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and blue monkeys.
Return to your lodge in the evening.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, depart Kibale and travel south towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The journey passes through Queen Elizabeth National Park region, scenic hills, tea estates, and rural communities. Along the way, enjoy views of the Albertine Rift Valley and beautiful landscapes that characterize southwestern Uganda.
Arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon and check into your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing.
You will be assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek through Bwindi’s dense rainforest. The trek can last from two to eight hours depending on the location of the gorillas.
Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they interact, feed, groom, and care for their young.
After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation and enjoy your final evening in the forest.

Day 5: Return to Entebbe or Kampala
After breakfast, check out and begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.
You will stop at the Equator crossing for photographs, refreshments, and souvenir shopping before continuing to your final destination.
Arrival is expected in the evening, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.
