5 days Jinja and gorilla safari

The 5 Days Jinja and Gorilla Safari combines Uganda’s top adventure destination with one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife encounters. This safari takes you to Jinja, the source of the River Nile and the adventure capital of East Africa, before continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience.

Along the way, you will enjoy a boat ride to the Source of the Nile, explore Jinja’s beautiful river landscapes, cross the Equator, and journey through the scenic hills of southwestern Uganda before coming face to face with endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Day 1: Transfer to Jinja and Visit the Source of the Nile

After breakfast, depart Kampala or Entebbe and drive to Jinja, Uganda’s adventure capital. The journey takes you through Mabira Forest and several trading centers before arriving in Jinja.

Visit the famous Source of the Nile and enjoy a boat ride to the point where the Nile begins its long journey from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea. Learn about the history of the Nile and enjoy spectacular views of the river.

Later, check into your lodge and relax for the evening.

Day 2: Jinja Tour and Return to Kampala

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning exploring Jinja. Visit selected viewpoints overlooking the Nile, local craft markets, and other attractions around the town.

After lunch, begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe and check into your hotel for an overnight stay before continuing your safari to southwestern Uganda.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

Enjoy a stop at the Equator for photographs and continue through beautiful countryside, rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and local villages. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and check into your lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

Enter the rainforest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek may take between one and six hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

Once found, spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, groom, and interact in their natural environment.

After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, check out and begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.
