Getting to Mgahinga gorilla national park 2025.
Accessing Mgahinga Gorilla National Park 2025: Home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular national parks. Situated in the Kisoro area of southwest Uganda, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park shares borders with Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.
One of the most common concerns asked by visitors who wish to visit a national park is how to get there, and as long as you choose the appropriate choice, it’s as easy as ABC. Both air and road transportation are available to get to the park.
Using road transportation to go to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
It takes roughly nine to ten hours to drive from Kampala or Entebbe, where most safaris in Uganda begin, to Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale, Kisoro, and finally to the park headquarters in a 4WD safari vehicle when you use road transport to get to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Travelers can also reach Mgahinga Gorilla National Park from Kigali, Rwanda, by flying to Kigali International Airport and then driving across the Cyanika border at Kisoro, which takes roughly three to four hours.
It takes roughly four to five hours to drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
It takes roughly two to three hours to drive from Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Public transportation is another way to get to the park. For example, there are bus companies like Post, Jaguar, Bismarkan, and Horizon that run daily trips from Kampala to Kisoro town. Once you get to Kisoro, you will need to rent a car to get to the park headquarters because there are no public transportation options to Ntebeko park headquarters.
However, we do not advocate using public transportation to go to the park because it is inconvenient, time-consuming, and monotonous because the bus will be stopping along the way. Instead, we suggest using a reputable tour operator like All In Africa Safaris.
Although traveling to the park by car is exhausting, it is also fascinating since you will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas along the way, including the Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands, tea and banana plantations, and the gorgeous terrain.
