How to Get to Kidepo National Park.
Kidepo Valley National Park is a truly untouched wilderness on African Wild Safaris. It is situated in the far northeastern Uganda region, bordered by Sudan. It takes about 10 to 12 hours to drive from Kampala to reach the main destination, and it is recommended that you use a 4×4 wheel vehicle that can handle the lengthy journey. A scheduled or chartered flight that lands at the adjacent Lomej airport “two hours” is the most efficient way to get to Kidepo Valley National Park.
There is also the possibility of connecting to another national park, such as Murchison Falls National Park, where you can land at Pakuba Airport, Chobe Airport in the northern part of the park, or Bugungu Airport in the southern part.
Domestic Flight: You can make reservations with Aerolink, Fly Uganda, or Bar Aviation, who are carriers that operate scheduled, albeit somewhat pricey, domestic flights from Entebbe to Kidepo Valley that take roughly two hours to land. Aerolink has a minimum seating capacity of four passengers, and all of these airlines, including Fly Uganda, provide seat fares that are applicable for daily flights to all Ugandan national parks.
Drive: From Entebbe or Kampala, it is also feasible to drive to Kidepo. As a result, there are numerous routes. The most direct route is the 600-kilometer trip from Gulu to Lokumoit Gate, which takes 10 to 12 hours to complete. However, an overnight stay in Kitgum, Gulu, Chobe Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park, or Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary can break up the journey.
Although road transportation may seem like a lengthy and exhausting way to get to Kidepo National Park, it offers many attractions, such as breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, terraces, homesteads, rhino tracking in Ziwa Sanctuary, animal viewing in Murchison Falls National Park (since the western route passes on the park’s edge), and a rewarding view of Karuma Falls, among other things, making your trip unforgettable.
The more extensive routes travel via the isolated Karamoja region, where Nataba Gate may be reached. Furthermore, Karamoja has long been regarded as safe and is a developing hub for community-based tourism that is centered on the surrounding tiny town of Moroto. In the past, it was unsafe.
Reputable tour operators can assist in booking domestic flights that travel to Kidepo Valley National Park. Additionally, tour operators will make arrangements for you to be picked up at your hotel or at the airport.
“EBB” Entebbe International Airport, located close to Entebbe town and only 46 kilometers from Kampala, Uganda’s capital, is the entry point to Uganda.
Entry Requirements: Among other things, you must have a current passport and visa in order to enter.
