Gorilla and Golden monkey tracking in Uganda-Rwanda – The best experience – Guaranteed Gorilla trekking permits. If you have an additional day on safari after seeing mountain gorillas, you may trek the gorgeous species known as golden monkeys. In this blog article, we provide extensive information about gorilla and golden monkey tracking holidays. A gorilla permit allows you to spend one hour with the mountain gorillas and covers the cost of park admission and guide. Only 8 people over the age of 15 are permitted to follow each habituated Gorilla family every day, and they all leave early in the morning and return by lunchtime or late afternoon.
Tracking might be simple or difficult depending on where the great apes are. Mountain gorilla movements are tracked on a regular basis, therefore failure to track is nearly unheard of. In such an unusual event, half of the price would be refunded. Gorilla tracking is possible in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks for USD700 for foreigners, USD700 for foreign residents, and UGX 250,000 for East Africans. In Rwanda, all tourists must pay USD1500 to follow gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience ($1500 for foreigners, USD1000 for foreign residents, UGX 750,000 for East Africans) is a more in-depth version of the experience that includes departing with gorilla trackers at 7:00am, spending 4 hours with the semi-habituated gorilla family, and observing the process of habituation, getting them used to humans. It is only possible in Bwindi Forest, in Rushaga, the National Park’s southern portion.
Gorilla licenses for Rwanda may be acquired from the Rwanda Development Board, and gorilla permits for Uganda can be purchased and issued at the Uganda Wildlife Authority in Kampala. It is best to plan ahead of time. Obtaining a gorilla permit gets difficult between June and September, but All in Africa Safaris will acquire them for you in advance.
There are 18 habituated gorilla families ready for tourists and one for study in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, as well as four Gorilla tracking districts. The Buhoma district, which serves as the park’s headquarters, is the oldest and hence the most well-known and established in terms of tourism. Gorillas are frequently most approachable here. However, excluding the other three zones would be incorrect. They are, at the very least, closer to towns with a broader range of more reasonably priced lodging.
There is just one habituated gorilla family in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park that is ready for tourists. It has a reputation for crossing into Rwanda on occasion, although this has not occurred in years. The main benefit of tracking at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park over Bwindi Forest is that the gorillas are more likely to be found in the open. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park also provides an incredible gorilla and golden monkey tracking experience, and it is Uganda’s only national park where you may see these endangered species of primates.
There are ten habituated gorilla families ready for tracking in Volcanoes National Park. All of them have a park gate at Kinigi, near Musanze, which is by far the most accessible area in the Gorilla Highlands. The magnificent Golden Monkeys of Rwanda may be found here.
