One-hour versus four-hour gorilla trekking

One-hour versus four-hour gorilla trekking: one-hour gorilla trekking permit at $800; four-hour gorilla trekking permit at $1500; budget Uganda gorilla trekking safaris.

One-hour versus four-hour gorilla trekking: The gorilla trekking experience only allows you to spend one hour with the mountain gorilla. This is because they have been trained and conditioned to tolerate human presence for only one hour every day. This is for conservation concerns, as mountain gorillas must continue eating and lounging as part of their daily routine. The term “gorilla habituation experience” refers to spending four hours with mountain gorillas. The Gorilla Habituation Experience is an expedition in which travelers accompany a team of researchers and trackers into the bush to follow and stay with a semi-habituated gorilla family for four hours.

The gorilla habituation experience allows you to spend more time with mountain gorillas, with a four-hour interaction as opposed to the one-hour encounter during regular gorilla tracking. This trip is unique since it allows you to learn more about mountain gorillas.

The gorilla habituation experience lasts four hours, beginning when you uncover fresh trails from where these giants last nestled the night before, and is only offered in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park‘s southern region.

A gorilla trekking permit costs USD800 per person per trip, but a gorilla habitat permit costs USD1500 per person per trek.

Mountain gorillas spotted after the habituation process are less used to human presence than those seen during conventional gorilla trekking. These encounters are absolutely safe, and spending more time with Mountain Gorillas allows you to better understand their habits and social dynamics while also taking beautiful images without being rushed.

Availability of gorilla permits.

Uganda is now the only country that offers the Gorilla Habituation Experience, a four-hour safari, and only four gorilla permits per day are available for public booking. As the demand for more time with the Mountain Gorillas expanded beyond one hour of hiking, the Uganda Wildlife Authority launched the Gorilla Habituation Experience in 2014 to provide travelers with free time before seeing the Mountain Gorillas. Initially, travelers who wanted to spend more time with the mountain gorillas would arrange a second gorilla trekking day. This is still happening due to the limited number of gorilla families available for gorilla habituation experiences.
