Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest and the second visited national park in Uganda after Murchison Falls National Park due to its proximity with primate parks such as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, and Rwenzori National Park. The park covers about 1978 square kilometers. The park starts from the equator at the basement of the great East African rift valley couples with Savanah, riverine ecosystems, valleys, lakes, and forests. It is from this background that queen Elizabeth boasts a variety of wildlife species, magnificent scenery combining escarpments, gorges, and offering great views of the famous Ruwenzori Mountains dubbed the mountains of the moon.

It takes about 6 hours to drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and then about 2 to 3 hours from Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the Ishasha sector. The 3 days Queen Elizabeth wildlife tour to Queen Elizabeth National Park offers the best of Uganda wildlife safari experience in the magical savanna plains. This is a short Uganda tour designed to let you explore the diversity of savanna dwellers and other wildlife species in Queen Elizabeth NP while on a guided game drive, boat/launch cruise in Kasenyi sector, and Kazinga channel respectively.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second largest park sitting on a land area of 1978sq.km. The vast savanna park lies in the western side of Uganda and it is, without doubt, a few bio-diverse protected areas in Africa, protecting a huge profusion of the world’s important wildlife species. The park’s different species of wildlife include 100 mammal species, 620 species of birds, reptiles, 10 primate species, floral species, etc.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Depart for Queen Elizabeth national park.

In the morning after you have had breakfast, meet up with your guide for a briefing on the 3 days Queen Elizabeth wildlife tour. Later, get into your pop-up roof safari vehicle prepared to hit the road for 6 hours starting from Kampala via the Mbarara route. The Equator crossing at Kayabwe will be your area of interest for a stopover visit en-route to Queen Elizabeth National Park your prime destination.

Arrive at the Medley of Wonders early enough to have a leisurely lunch at your pre-booked accommodation. Late in the afternoon, you will be taken on an afternoon/evening game driving experience to view lots of big, small mammals, birds as they rush into their respective habitats for the night.

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

On day two of your 3 days, Queen Elizabeth wildlife tour-the main highlights include a game drive along with Kasenyi sector, launch trip Kazinga channel. Have breakfast early, after, meet your experienced guide for an early morning game driving expedition via Kasenyi savanna plains taking approximately 2-3 hours of you sighting different animal species including elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, leopards, lions, antelopes, interesting birds then get back to the lodge.

Settle for lunch upon returning from savanna plains and after, relax before setting off for the 2:00 pm launch cruise on Kazinga channel also for about 2-3 hours. Note, Kazinga channel extends about 43kms and connects 2 of Queen Elizabeth NP lakes that is Lake Edward and Lake George. On a boat/launch cruise, enjoy sightings of the Nile crocodiles, hippos, water birds and others then have enough relaxation back at the lodge.

Day 3: Travel back to Kampala

Have the best of your early morning breakfast, later, check out, and drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park as you enjoy the last game drive shortly. After, you will be returned to Kampala via the Mbarara city route, make a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch, and lastly at the Equator for photography. Leave after photo taking, get back to Kampala or Entebbe to be dropped at the hotel or Airport.
