5 Days Gorilla Trekking and wildlife safari

Overview

A 5 Days Gorilla Trekking & Lion Tracking Safari Itinerary is ideal for those who want to combine gorilla and lion tracking in Ishasha with a wildlife game drive tour.

The adventure starts with a pick-up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Make your first stop at the equator, then continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Go mountain gorilla trekking before heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the lions in their natural setting.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.

Meet with your safari guide and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park having a stop near the equator line to photograph the world’s centerline.

Continue with the drive having another stop in Mbarara for lunch. You will most likely arrive in the evening and check in at your lodge, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking.

Wake up early, eat breakfast, and prepare for your gorilla trekking adventure.

With your packed lunch, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers taking you through the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. At this point, you will be divided into groups of 8 individuals and each assigned to a given gorilla family.

Hike through the forest, meet up with the great apes and spend a full hour with them. You will go back to the park headquarters, where you will be awarded with a certificate of participation in Gorilla trekking then drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, pack your bags, check out the lodge, and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The route will take you via the Ishasha sector famous for tree-climbing lions. Enjoy an en-route game drive to spot tree-climbing lions and other wildlife. Continue to your lodge, check-in, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Game drive and Boat cruise adventures.

After your early morning breakfast, set out early for game drive in the Kasenyi plains in quest of the wildlife that roams there. Here, you can see Kobs, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Topis, and many other species. After the game drive, drive back to the lodge for lunch. Followed by afternoon Kazinga channel boat cruise. A boat tour around the renowned Kazinga Channel exposes you to various mammal species quenching their thirst, as well as a variety of bird species. These include elephants, antelopes, warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, and many more wildlife species.

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure.(Queen Elizabeth Park safari)

On the final day of your Gorilla Trek and Lion Tracking safari, you enjoy breakfast before driving back to Kampala. You have lunch while on the way.

When you arrive in the evening, your safari guide will then drop you off Entebbe airport in time for your departure flight or the hotel depending on your drop of point.
