6 Days Uganda primates & Wildlife safari

Overview

The 6-day Uganda safari is well crafted with the chimp and gorilla trekking experiences. Taking you to different destinations in the Western and Southwestern parts of Uganda, such as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking; it covers 331 square kilometers and is home to mountain gorillas as well as over 220 butterfly species, 120 mammal species, 348 bird species, trees, plants, and ferns, among others.

Kibale Forest National Park is home to 13 primate species, most notably chimps, with over 100 individuals in each colony. Other animals you may encounter are black and white colobus, baboons, bush infants, and L’Hoest monkeys.

You will also visit Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is 376 kilometers from Kampala and is home to a variety of wildlife species, including 10 primates, over 500 bird species, 95 mammal species, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. A launch cruise around the Kazinga Channel with the great population for hippos.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival/Pick up and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

You will be picked up from the hotel after morning breakfast or at Entebbe international airport on arrival. you will be welcomed by your safari guide who will transport you from Kampala to Kibale Forest via Fort portal with spectacular views along the country. You will also have your lunch here.

Embark on the journey to the park arriving late afternoon. You drive to the lodge where you will check in for relaxation from the long drive. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, your safari guide will drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you are to walk through the rainforest under the guidance of park rangers.

Upon meeting the chimps in person, you are to spend one hour with them watching them go about their daily lives, such as playing, jumping, and feeding, leaving you with an exciting and memorable experience. Other animals that can be spotted include grey-cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and other birds. Later, return to the lodge for lunch and check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 3: Morning game drive and an evening boat cruise.

After your early morning breakfast, go on a wildlife drive down the Kasenyi route, where you’ll witness elephants, antelopes, solitary buffaloes, lions, warthogs, and birds. Proceed to your lodge, check-in, and enjoy your lunch before departing for the boat cruise on the Kazinga channel.

The boat cruise offers the opportunity to witness the elephants, buffaloes along the banks, crocodiles, hippos, waterbucks, and birds within the waters and along the banks. Return to the lodge, freshen up, eat dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Following breakfast will be a drive to Bwindi’s impenetrable forest via the Ishasha sector, where you can see climbing lions and other wildlife. You will have a stopover for lunch and then proceed with your drive and on arrival check in at your lodge, relax, have dinner, and have an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Transfer to lake Bunyonyi

Get up early for breakfast and then drive to the park headquarters with your packed lunch. You will be briefed on what to do and not do while hiking, after which the ranger guides will lead you through the mist forest.

The trekking typically takes 8 hours or more, sometimes a full day. When you see the gorillas, you are to spend a full hour with the gorillas. After the trek, you will return to the park headquarters where you will be awarded with the certificate participation in gorilla trekking. After, you will exit the park and transfer to lake Bunyonyi, which one the popular safari destination for relaxation after along days gorilla trek.

Day 6: Bunyonyi canoe boat and Departure

Wake up for breakfast and thereafter, you will go on a canoe boat in lake Bunyonyi where you will explore some of the beautiful islands found here, like the punishment Islands, among others. The guide will explain their history behind the Islands. You will also view some interesting attractions like plantations, little birds and the locals going about their daily activity.

After, you will return to the lodge, check out and depart for Kampala, stopping at Mbarara for lunch and a photo opportunity at the Equator, where you may also purchase souvenirs. Continue to Kampala, arriving in the evening and the guide will drop you off at the airport in time for your departure flight back home.
