7 Days Uganda safari

Overview

This 7 day Uganda Safari is an amazing way to explore some of Uganda’s top tourist sites, including Kibale Forest National Park for a chance to track the chimps and embark on a nature walk through the Bigodi wetland sanctuary, the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park for game viewing and the refreshing Boat cruise, and finally take you to the south-western side of the country where you will trek the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and drive to your lodge.

When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, your safari guide will welcome you to Uganda and provide a briefing before transporting you to your lodge in Kampala. Check-in, refresh, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

After breakfast at the hotel, head to the primate capital of the world (Kibale Forest National Park), where you may track chimpanzees, the closest relatives of humans, for 2- 6 hours trek. Enjoy the breathtaking vistas of the verdant tea estates of Toro and Mubende Rocks during this thrilling adventure. There are two stops along the way: one for lunch at Fort Portal Town and the other at the enigmatic Nakayima tree. Proceed to the Lodge in the Kibale Forest National Park and check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After breakfast, prepare your hiking equipment and drive to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for an orientation before the trekking starts. After spending an hour with these fascinating primates, head back to the Lodge for lunch.

Check out of the Lodge and make your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in the afternoon. Proceed and check in to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise.

Rising to the gentle sounds of the forest, you will eat breakfast and embark on an early game drive where you will be able to see a variety of African animals, such as warthogs, buffaloes, Topis, lions, and Uganda Kobs. In addition, several of the park’s crater lakes and bird species will be explored throughout the drive. Return to the Lodge to have lunch.

Following your lunch and simple relaxation will be a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you can see hippos and crocodiles lounging alongside aquatic birds, particularly African fish eagles, and pelicans. And hereafter drive to the Loge to unwind, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Enjoy your morning breakfast, check out, and start your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on day five to fulfill your ambition of seeing the mountain gorillas. The drive will reward you with breathtaking views of the Kigezi mountains. The journey will include lunch en route before proceeding to Bwindi. Dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking

After breakfast, prepare your trekking gear for the exciting gorilla expedition.

Move to the Briefing point, where you will gather with your fellow trekkers where you will be informed about the dos and don’ts for gorilla trekking. After you will be accompanied by the rangers to the starting point of the trek. The activity may last from 2-6 hours or more depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you spot them, you will enjoy a full hour with these gentle apes before returning to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

If you are not too tired, you can opt to go for an evening walk and visit the Batwa community living in surrounding areas of the park or otherwise, relax at the Lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure

Enjoy your breakfast and thereafter, check out of the lodge and start your return journey back to Kampala. You will have lunch enroute and continue with the journey arriving in Kampala in the evening. The guide will then drive you straight to the airport in time for your departure flight or at the drop off point of your choosing.
