To assist you in planning your Uganda safaris, below are the Uganda Visa Application Requirements. Uganda is one of Africa’s most beautiful countries, with spectacular natural landscapes, half of the world’s surviving mountain gorilla population, and some of the friendliest people you could expect to encounter.
Visas are required for the majority of non-African passport holders entering Uganda. Visas were formerly obtained at the border upon admission, however the Government of Uganda implemented an online visa application system on July 1, 2016. All visitors visiting Uganda for vacation, tourism, business, study, visit, or medical treatment must apply for and get a visa online. Applications should be submitted at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/.
Visas available online include a six-month Multiple-Entry Multiple-Entry Visa valid for 90 days in Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda, a Diplomatic and Official Visa, a three-month Ordinary Visa, an East Africa Tourist Visa, and a Transit Visa.
The decision on the application is conveyed electronically to the applicant’s email address. If accepted, an approval letter is attached to the email address supplied. The prospective tourist just prints it off and shows it at the port of entry together with a valid passport or travel document.
Visitors seeking Visa Extensions must go to the Immigration office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or follow the procedures online. It is also worth noting that Kampala is an excellent location for obtaining visas to other countries, as there are typically no lines at the different embassies.
